Rebecca is a former swimmer who was British Champion, world number one and the first Black woman ever to swim for Great Britain. She also competed for Kenya in swimming and was honoured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2023 and is also the CEO of the 10,000 Interns Foundation, a non-profit that champions underrepresented talent. Rebecca studied Fine Art at the University of Oxford.
Throughout her swimming career, Rebecca was subjected to racist and sexist abuse. Moreover, as she was born to a British mother and a Kenyan father, Rebecca has experienced identity issues.
‘These Heavy Black Bones’ is her first book and reveals the above and questions so much about the readers’ attitude to these topics.
Rebecca is an engaging, fun and charismatic person.
